Introduction:
Children in schools are more prone to get injured during their activities. Awareness toward first aid is vital for teachers to provide solutions in case of the occurrence of accidents. Our work aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice of first aid and the associated factors among male school teachers in Hail city.
Methodology:
This is a cross-sectional study. A questionnaire-based survey was performed among teachers in primary, middle, and secondary male schools in the Hail region, Saudi Arabia. Statistical analysis was performed using STATA 12 software, Continuous variables were presented as mean, and SD and inter-group differences were compared using t -test. Categorical variables showed as numbers and percentages. P values <0.05 were considered statistically significant.
A total of 604 teachers were included in our sample; all completed an online structured questionnaire formed of 20 questions. The majority of participants were male teachers (80.96%). The teachers had a mean age of 39 ± 7.8 years old. Most of the teachers (90.9%) knew about first aids. More than one-half of teachers (58.28%) had not taken first aid training, and the majority of participants (87.9%) need to learn first aid principles. Age, sex, and marital status were significantly ( P < 0.05) associated with the knowledge of first aids. Most of our samples depend on media and social media to gain information regarding first aid principles.
Conclusion:
Our study concluded that the school teachers in Hail city had good knowledge and attitude about the first aid. However, more training workshops were recommended for improving the first aid practice of teachers.

Introduction
First aid is providing early and first care for injury or illness by the untrained or inexperienced person until medical treatment can be provided.[ 1 ] Injuries are the major causes of morbidity and death in the world, especially in middle- and low-income countries.[ 2 ]
Primary care physicians are not present at the schools. Rapid administration of first aid by school teachers may minimize morbidity and mortality of pupils attributed to injury-related problems, therefore, teachers should have adequate knowledge and practice in basic first aid skills.
First aid involves simple medical techniques that individually provide, this individual is either with or without a formal medical.[ 3 ] In 2020, Taklual et al . performed a study to investigate the associated factors of first aid knowledge, attitude, and practice among elementary school teachers in Ethiopia. They found that school teachers have low knowledge of first aid. Educational status, previous first aid training, service year, and information on first aid were the determinant of first aid knowledge.[ 4 ]
In Saudi Arabia, it was estimated that there were 30,263 cases of neck and back injuries, 41,561 fractures cases, 779 burn cases, and 467 asphyxia cases.[ 5 , 6 ] Awareness toward first aid is important to provide solutions in case of occurrence of accidents, this can be performed by establishing training programs.[ 1 ] Life-threatening emergencies in schools include preexisting health problems, violence, injuries, and other unexpected events.[ 3 ] In Saudi Arabia, the main caregivers in school for children are teachers and they are their first-line protectors and the first individuals who respond to the emergencies of the students, so they should be able to deal with emergencies and disasters the students face.[ 7 ] Students in Hail spend a long time in school and they perform activities there, during the day several accidents may occur and may result in injuries. Teachers are responsible persons for children in school. No studies have been done before to explore knowledge, attitude, and practice about first aid among male school teachers in Hail city, Saudi Arabia.
To assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice about first aid among male school teachers in Hail city and to investigate its associated factors.
Methodology
Study design.
This is a cross-sectional study. A questionnaire-based survey among teachers in primary, middle, and secondary male schools in the Hail region, Saudi Arabia. A 30- cluster survey methodology was approached.
Sample size and sampling technique
A two-stage random cluster sampling technique described by the World Health Organization (WHO) was applied to choose 30 schools to proportionate to size to represent primary, middle, and secondary schools in Hail City.
Data collection tool
The data collection tool was validated before and used by Dr. Ibrahim Adel AlYahya.[ 8 ]
Study variables
Knowledge level, attitude, and practice were the outcome variables of interest. Sociodemographic variables of teachers and school-related characteristics were the independent variables that could influence the outcome variables.
Ethical consideration
All the required permissions were obtained from the ministry of education, and ethical approval was obtained from the Bioethics review Board, General Directorate of Health Affairs, Hail Region.
Statistical analysis
The data were analyzed using STATA 12 software, continuous variables were presented as mean and standard deviation (SD), and inter-group differences were compared using t -test. Skewed numerical data were shown as median and average rank and between-group differences were compared using the Mann-Whitney U-test. P values <0.05 were considered statistically significant.

Children are more prone to get injured during their activities.[ 9 , 10 ] It was mentioned that physical injuries of children represented 88% of injuries and 20% of them occurred during the school attendance.[ 11 ]
Most of the participant teachers (90.9%) in our study knew about first aids. AlYahya et al . (2019) conducted a study to assess the levels of knowledge of teachers in the Riyadh city related to basic first aid practices and its variables. They found that 60.1% of teachers had information about first aid practices which was less than our findings (90.9%).[ 8 ] Another study from Saudi Arabia reported that more than half of teachers 62.88% did not attend any training about first aid and 51.26% had poor knowledge, however, 95% had a positive attitude.[ 7 ] Another study demonstrated that there was an unsatisfactory level of first aid knowledge among primary school teachers.[ 10 ] A study from Al-Robaiaay showed that sports teachers had poor knowledge about first aid. In Madinah, 44.76% was the percentage of good first aid knowledge of overall school instructors. They also measured 60.55% of school instructors have a positive attitude toward first aid training.[ 12 ]
In the present study, age was found to be significantly correlated to knowledge regarding the compression of sounds to stop external bleeding with a P value 0.02. Similarly, it was reported that teachers older than 35 years had higher knowledge about first aid more than younger teachers.[ 13 ]
In agreement with the present study, it was reported that having previous first-aid training, source of first aid information, previous training, and exposure to children in need of first aid were positive associations with the attitude towards first aid.[ 13 ]
A study from Egypt reported that the knowledge of primary school teachers about first aid was inadequate.[ 14 ] A study from Iraq reported that 95% of teachers had total fair knowledge and 5% had poor knowledge, whereas 93.4% showed a positive attitude.[ 15 ] A study from China found that the majority showed a positive attitude toward providing and learning first aid skills.[ 16 ]
An Indian study showed that 77.5% of government school teachers had an average level of knowledge toward first aid, whereas 12.5% and 10% had good and poor knowledge, respectively.[ 17 ] Another Indian study reported that 13% and 87% of school teachers in Mangalore had poor and moderate knowledge, respectively.[ 18 ] Another study found that 72.5% had good knowledge.[ 19 ]
In the present study, more than one-half of teachers (58.28%) had not taken first-aid training and the majority of participants (87.9%) need to learn first-aid principles. Similarly, it was reported that only 26.4% of teachers had attended first aid lectures and the majority of them had not attended the lectures.[ 8 ] Training is a factor that improves the level of knowledge, there was a significant association between first aid training and the level of knowledge.[ 20 , 21 ] It was reported that the majority of primary school teachers (86%) did not attend any specific seminar related to first aid management of minor injuries.[ 9 ]
In our study, most of our samples depend on media and social media to gain information regarding first-aid principles. In agreement with our results, AlYahya et al . reported that most teachers reported a source of knowledge was social media (21.6%).[ 8 ] However, another study reported that the majority (74%) of teachers had their information about first aid through literatures such as magazines, health newspapers, health-related articles, and from relatives, friends, and health professionals.[ 9 ]
Knowledge of first aid is critical for teachers to provide solutions in case of the occurrence of accidents. Our work aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice of first aid and its associated factors among male school teachers in Hail city. Most of the teachers knew about the first aids. More than one-half of teachers had not taken first aid training, and the majority of participants need to learn first aid principles. Age, sex, and marital status were significantly associated with the knowledge of first aids. Most teachers depend on media and social media to gain information regarding first aid principles. Our study concluded that the school teachers in Hail city had good knowledge and attitude about the first aid. However, more training workshops were recommended for improving the first-aid practice of teachers.

Assessment of knowledge, attitude and practice of first aid among taxi operators in a Kampala City Taxi Park, Uganda: A cross-sectional study
Effect of health education on female primary school teachers’ knowledge of seizure first aid: an interventional study, multidisciplinary cooperative first aid model for the treatment of patients with pelvic and multiple fractures.
Objectives: To retrospectively evaluate a multidisciplinary cooperative first aid model for the treatment of patients with pelvic and multiple fractures in the emergency department. Methods: The records of patients with pelvic fractures complicated with multiple fractures treated in our hospital from February 2020 to April 2021 were selected, of which 34 patients received conventional trauma first aid mode (control group) and 34 patients received multidisciplinary joint first aid mode (study group). We compared pelvic function (Majeed functional score) and fracture reduction outcomes, as well as serum inflammatory factor levels and complication rates after treatment between the two groups. Results: The Majeed score in the study group (90.15 ± 6.83) was higher than that in the control group (75. 47 ± 5.35), and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The value for combined excellent and good rates of fracture reduction in the study group (85.29%, 29/34) was significantly higher than that in the control group (58.82%, 20/34), and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). We found similar levels of TNF-a and IL-6 between the two groups at admission (P>0.05); however, the serum levels of TNF-a and IL-6 in the study group were lower than those in the control group on the fifth day after admission, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The incidence of complications in the study group (17.64%, 6/34) was significantly lower than that in the control group (61.76%, 21/34), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The multidisciplinary cooperative first aid model for the treatment of patients with pelvic and multiple fractures can effectively shorten the treatment time, increase the excellent functional rehabilitation rate, inhibit the release of inflammatory factors, and reduce the incidence of complications (such as infections), when compared to the conventional trauma emergency system. doi: https://doi.org/10.12669/pjms.38.3.5014 How to cite this:Han Y, Peng G, Liu L, Xie X. The Status of First Aid Skills Mastery and Training Preferences of College Students: A Cross-Sectional Survey
Objective: Bystander first aid can improve the survival rate after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest or trauma, College students are potential bystanders of first aid in society. In the research, we aim to determine the universality of first aid training and the mastery of first aid skills among college students in order to implement first aid. Methods:From January to October 2021, Carry out questionnaire surveys by WeChat push, A random cross-sectional study was conducted on students from five universities in Wenzhou. In order to understand the knowledge and skills of first aid, Respondents accepted the first aid scenario that answered two hypotheses. Results:Among the 1,171 college students interviewed. Among them, 37.23% are males and 62.77% are females; 78.31% have first aid training experience, and 21.69% have no first aid training experience; 71% of college students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills through first aid training conducted by the Red Cross, medical emergency centers or hospitals, etc. 22% of college students study through the information network; All college students interviewed expressed their willingness to participate in first aid training. But 21.69% of college students have not received first aid training, The reason for the inability to participate in the training is that they do not understand the ways to participate in first aid training, accounting for 37.01%; Lack of confidence accounted for 19.69%, and lack of time accounted for 35.04%; In the hypothetical emergency scene, In the male group, 48.96% were willing to treat the injured, and 36.19% in the female group. There is a statistical difference between the two (P<0.01); The junior college student group and the undergraduate student group are 28.09% and 44.09% separately. The medical professional group and the students with the first aid training group are 60.4% and 43.51% separately, The willingness to implement first aid has a clear advantage over the non-medical and non-trained two groups. The comparison between the two groups was statistically significant (P <0.01). The first aid skills are well mastered: chest compression 46.19%, judgment awareness 35.95%, hemostasis bandaging 32.88%, The worse ones were artificial respiration 24.67%, open airway 23.56%, and fracture fixation 8.96%. Conclusion: College students have a positive attitude towards learning first aid knowledge. However, it was found that the first aid skills were not well mastered, and the training was insufficient. Colleges and universities should provide first aid-related courses, extracurricular intensive training and other methods, Increase the knowledge of college students to deal with emergencies and improve basic first aid skills. Incorporating first aid skills training into university curricula and implementing it is a long-term strategy. Improve college students' awareness of first aid knowledge to obtain better social benefits. Key words: Attitude, First aid skills, college student training.

Trial Assay for Safe First-Aid Protocol for the Stinging Sea Anemone Anemonia viridis (Cnidaria: Anthozoa) and a Severe Toxic Reaction
Anemonia viridis is an abundant and widely distributed temperate sea anemone that can form dense congregations of individuals. Despite the potential severity of its sting, few detailed cases have been reported. We report a case of a severe toxic reaction following an A. viridis sting in a 35-year-old oceanographer. She developed severe pain, itching, redness, and burning sensation, which worsened one week after treatment with anti-inflammatories, antihistamines and corticosteroids. Prompted by this event, and due to the insufficient risk prevention, lack of training for marine-environment users, and lack of research into sting-specific first-aid protocols, we evaluated the cnidocyst response to five different compounds commonly recommended as rinse solutions in first-aid protocols (seawater, vinegar, ammonia, baking soda, and freshwater) by means of the Tentacle Solution Assay. Vinegar and ammonia triggered an immediate and massive cnidocyst discharge after their application and were classified as activator solutions. Baking soda and freshwater were also classified as activator solutions, although with a lower intensity of discharge. Only seawater was classified as a neutral solution and therefore recommended as a rinse solution after A. viridis sting, at least until an inhibitory solution is discovered.

Kata Kunci: Pelatihan, Tersedak, Anak ABSTRACTChoking is a condition of obstruction or obstruction of respiration by a narrowed foreign body in the internal airways, including the pharynx, hypopharynx, and trachea. The narrowing of the airway can be fatal if it leads to serious impairment of oxygenation and ventilation. Choking conditions in children can lead to respiratory emergencies which if not treated immediately can be life-threatening or disabled. Treatment is usually successful and the survival rate is 95%. To help with this incident, a Basic Life Support (BHD) technique is needed to deal with choking. This technique, besides having to be mastered by medical personnel, is also important for parents and teachers to know as first aid if they find a child choking before getting further medical treatment. Therefore, parents need to have the insight gained from the training provided by the team on the management of choking in children to reduce the incidence and possible worsening of the condition in children. The purpose of this community service is to find out and apply first aid procedures to choking children. This community service method is carried out with lectures, demonstrations with props, and questions and answers. The conclusion is that parents and teachers are able to know and apply first aid to choking children after being given training. Keywords: Training, Choking, Children
Geotechnical Management of Isolated Sustainable Alpine Communities
The Albanian Alps are situated in a mountainous block in the Northern Albania region, in the counties of Shkodër (also known as Shkodra or Gegëria) and Kukës (Kukësi). The nature of the mountainous terrain formation has led to the creation of isolated communities. The need for integrating these scattered communities into a cohesive co-operating community for area sustainability is now possible by using the Internet to link them all onto an online system. To deal with natural catastrophes, disaster management cells will be created which will serve as hubs. These hubs will be located at geographically strategic positions that will enable a predetermined geofenced region for evaluation of different disasters viz. forest fires, landslide, flooding, avalanches, the burial of villages under heavy snowfalls, etc. These cells will connect the particular case with the most appropriate disaster relief, rescue service and EMR (Emergency Medical Responder), first aid services (e.g. Green Crescent/Red Cross) and EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) personnel. The cells shall be managed by locally trained human resources with the necessary equipment to provide the monitoring/analyses and first aid assistance in case of need. The technology needed for the monitoring and geotechnical management of the isolated Alpine communities will be described. The socio-economic impact of the deployment of these technologies aiding in the sustainability of these vulnerable communities will conclude the research.
